"I have a chest of drawers made of white color solid ash. How could I paint it a different color?"
Our recommendations
You can give your furniture a new look with a contemporary color scheme.
The painting process is as follows.
- Remove the knobs and save the screws to paint easily the furniture.
- Remove any old paint by scraping or sanding carefully with fine sandpaper.
- Wipe the surface thoroughly with a damp cloth to make sure it is totally clean.
- For best results, apply one or preferably two coats of acrylic water-based primer for wood towards the grain direction.
- Let the primer dry, and apply the first coat of water-based acrylic paint, working in the same direction as the grain of the wood.
- Allow to dry thoroughly and the next day smooth using very fine-grit sandpaper and apply a second coat.
- Finally, add the knobs and your furniture is ready to use.
Tips
- Paint with water-based paints
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions
- Avoid painting at low or high ambient temperatures (<10oC or > 35oC)
- Avoid painting when the humidity is high (> 55%)
- Take extra care when painting indoors, ensuring good ventilation in the room
