Reader's question
"I'd love it if you could recommend what colours I should choose for the new curtains in my living room. The walls are all painted in an off-white colour except for one that is a light green. The couches are beige and the rest of the furniture is wenge. The curtain will be hung on the green wall where the window is.
I desperately need your help, cause I don't want the room to end up looking either too much or too blant and everyone I ask seems to have a completely different suggestion. (The general style of the house is modern in earth tones.)"
Kids’ bedrooms are multifunctional spaces where they can sleep, study, play, daydream, and spend time with friends. Whether it is a girls’ or boys’ room decorating, the rooms’ design ideas should be adaptable to the kids’ needs and interests which change as they are growing up.
A kid’s room should be spacious, attractive and well organized providing ample storage in order to avoid a clutter desk and floor. Consequently, the interior design should maximize space in a kid’s bedroom and combined with a selection of space saving bedroom furniture should create a comfortable and functional bedroom.
The bed should not overwhelm the space. A bed providing space underneath for a desk or for playing is a good selection. Alternatively a platform bed with drawers underneath is suitable for kids who don’t like climbing up to the bed.

Energy costs are higher than they’ve ever been and are projected to keep climbing. The consequences of burning fossil fuels are constant reminders to homeowners across the world that our wellbeing is dependent on the ways we treat the Earth. Preserving the planet is an astronomically large task, but starting at home is the easiest way to enact big change. Making your home more energy efficient can save you thousands of dollars and save the planet!
Small-scale changes
Turn down the thermostat
The moment the temperature drops off, we are quick to run to our thermostats and blast the heat all the way up. Since we want to keep our homes warm and toasty at all times, we tend to leave the heat on all day and all night, regardless of if anyone is home or not. In a study conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy, it was found that lowering your thermostat by 10 to 15 degrees during the work day reduced wasted energy and resulted in 5 percent to 15 percent in annual savings. Investing in a smart thermometer will allow you to control the temperature settings in your home from your smartphone!
