Color is one of the most powerful tools in interior design and home decoration. A space on the other hand, may have several deficiencies that you can work out by using color in a clever way. See some common space issues and how they can be cured with color. 

Issue: Low ceiling space

Solution: Low ceiling spaces often create a feeling of narrowness. To solve the problem paint the ceiling with a lighter tone than the tone of the walls. By this the ceiling will appear lighter and as if it extends upwards. Another trick is to create vertical strips.

Issue: extremely height ceiling

Solution: Pick for the ceiling a darker tone than the tone of the walls. Another solution is to create horizontal strips. A third trick is to divide the walls at 2/3 and paint the lower part with a darker tone and the upper part with a lighter. 

Issue: Narrow corridor.

Solution: When there is a narrow corridor, then there are also one or two large vertical surfaces that you can exploit in order to make an impact. Pick a vibrant & modern color, such as a deep red, a glowing blue or a lustrous chocolate and paint one or both corridor walls. To achieve a more pop-art look make vertical strips on both walls. 

Issue: The room has few or no windows at all.

Solution: A room with no windows needs two things: light and view. To substitute for light, opt for wall paints, such as light yellow, bright orange and ochre. A palette around yellow tones is related subconsciously with a sunny day. In relation to the lack of view, add large paintings or hang a big mirror in a prominent surface. The mirror, apart from looking like a window, reflects and multiplies natural light. 

Issue: The room is too ordinary

Solution: This is a great opportunity to choose a modern, vivid and exotic color such as a tropical blue, a glowing red, a deep chocolate and much more. However keep in mind that you have to paint a limited number of surfaces with this color, for example a prominent wall. Otherwise the overall result could be overwhelming. 

Issue: Intent sun light in the room 

Solution: Paint the walls and the ceiling with light cold tones, such as light blue. 

Issue: There are many and different architectural elements in space

Solution: You can either paint all surfaces with the same color or highlight a particular element with on color.
