Reader’s question
"I bought two gray sofas for my living room. I would like your advice on what carpet and curtains color to pick for the living room. Notice that the living room is small, and one of the walls is lilac and the other two are off white. I would appreciate your answer!”
Our recommendations
Initially we need to mention that the gray color is a neutral color and it can be combined with any color, provided the specific color can be combined with the other colors of the space.
We don’t know of course some elements of space, like the color of your floor, brightness and style of your furniture.
About the color of the carpet, the choice will be made on the basis of which item you want to stand out, for example if you want to emphasize the gray sofa, the carpet should be in a lighter shade and vice versa.
But since the gray sofa (we do not know the exact shade) can be somber, and because the color of the carpet should not be binding in your décor options, we suggest choosing carpet in light neutral tone. A very modern combination is beige with gray.
Regarding curtain color we suggest either soft or deeper tones depending on your preferences and the size of the space. Select shades of lilac or deep red to blend with the colors of the walls and the gray sofas, bringing colour with pillows or throws.
If you like colorful carpet, choose a warm, deep red shade and for the curtains choose a shade of beige.
