INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
Opsis architects have redesigned the lot of an apartment building in Athens.
The project suggests an alternative way to upgrade visually and functionally a common front yard of a multi – storey building.
The current proposal aims to combine outdoor activities and uses, such as parking space, barbeque, outdoor dining and living-room, pedestrian entrance to the building, and at the same time to insert and highlight the natural elements (water, plants, ground).
The building was rotated 45 degrees in relation to the shape of the lot and this particular feature determined the design of the garden, creating diagonal perspectives and an interesting circulation between the "outdoor rooms".
The architectural proposal, apart from the aesthetic enhancement sough mainly to be functional and to combine as many outdoor activities as possible, such as parking places, a barbeque and an outdoor dining room.
The dominant elements of the garden are the water, the earth and the planting.
Antigoni Mantsiou & Panagiota Chaliazi (Opsis architects) have graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and own a master degree in landscape architecture. They have more than 10 years of experience in building construction and design and in landscape architecture.
