Reader’s question
"My open plan kitchen living room is 4.25 x 4.15 m. The kitchen is arrayed along one wall. I am concerned about being able to arrange into this small space a sofa, a TV and a dining table with 4 chairs, having available only a wall length 4.15 m".

Our recommendation
A suitable furniture arrangement could be as follows: A small dining area for 4 persons may be created in the corner of the room near the balcony door, and a 2-seater sofa can be placed with its back to the kitchen area, in the center of the space, leaving enough space between the sofa and the kitchen cabinets. A small TV stand should be placed opposite the sofa.

TV furniture
We suggest two options: in the first, a large TV furniture with open and closed storage and alternatively a small TV stand with shelves.

Coffee table
The coffee table can have simple square shape. You can position two ottomans under the table to avoid overcrowding.

Other furnishings
On either side of the sofa you can position two elements that can be used as side tables or small bookcases. Moreover, they can have casters to move easily.

Curtains
We recommend roman blinds for the balcony door, as pleated curtains fill the space.

Textures and colors
We generally recommend a monochromatic light color scheme. Also you can select glass surfaces wherever you can, e.g. on the coffee table or the dining table, because transparency enhances the feeling of spaciousness.
