Reader's question:
"I am renovating my appartment and I am looking for a solution on what to do with the empty space under the stairs in my small bathroom (2,00X2,00m). I don't want to built a dry wall in front of the stairs. I need the space to place the waching machine."
Our answer:
You didn't send any photo of your bathroom, so we designed a bathroom based on your description.
According to your needs, the space under the stairs must remain functional, to place the waching machine and/or to create more storage space. A good solution would be the design and construction of a built in furniture, from the floor to the ceiling, that could camouflage the side of the stairs and would create extra storage spaces.
At the bottom of the furniture, a large cupboard could integrate the washing machine.
The wooden facade is not suggested to be solid, but rather to have built in shelves for towels, decorative candles, accessories, etc.
The surface of the wooden furniture can be paint in a neutral and light color (white, off white, grey) or to reseble natural wood.
Another alternative could to be the placement of large mirrors to the cabinet doors. In that case, the mirrored surfaces should extend from the floor up to the ceiling.
