Reader’s question
"I have sent you a sketch floor plan of my place where I would like to arrange a living room area with dining area and a fireplace. I am asking your help because I consider the furniture arrangement is too difficult for me! The unique furniture I have is the dining set, 180cm by 90cm. I am very fond of rustic style and sideboards, and china cabinets. I hope you can help me to get a beautiful layout! Thanks in advance!"

Our recommendations
Indeed, the shape of the space creates difficulties in furniture arrangement. Nevertheless a warm, welcoming place can be achieved by the placement of a sitting area around a corner fireplace.

In the sketch of the floor plan you have sent us the location and size of apertures are not indicated, so we consider of standard dimension openings.
We also want to mention that the feeling of spaciousness and easy circulation in the room are necessary. Consequently it should be a priority in selecting furniture.
In our proposal we have given priority to your desires when furnishing the space and we proposed layout of the furniture required.

The fireplace is located in the upper right hand corner as you enter the room and at 50cm distance in front of the wall. At the right side of the fireplace we propose a place for firewood storage that enhances the rustic decorating style that you like. Alternatively you can use this space as a cabinet, which it cannot be placed anywhere else. We recommend mounting a TV above the fireplace, as it is very difficult to place a TV stand. If the balcony door allows enough place by the fireplace there may be room for TV furniture next to the fireplace.
Opposite the fireplace we propose a two-seater and a three-seater sofas with a side table between them and a coffee table.

In the lower right corner where the window is we place the dining set and on the left of the entry we recommend a credenza with mirror above, classic choice for the rustic decorating style.

Regarding the rustic country décor style in your home we propose walnut furniture, which is a deep, sweet brown color, sofas in dark blue hue, striped upholstered dining chairs and curtains in natural colors to highlight furniture.
We also propose Brazilian cherry (Jatoba) for the fireplace cladding.
The color scheme is indicative because it should be selected taking into account the material and color of the flooring.
