Reader’s question
"I've remodeled my basement and created a studio in which I work. I have set a lot of pl lights on the ceiling and painted the walls white. The space became so brightly lit that relaxation is impossible. I have tried to use objects of warm shades of brown in the place, but the situation has not improved enough. Can you suggest any other solution?"
Our recommendation
Regarding lighting, in order to achieve a pleasant atmosphere, you must get visual comfort in the room, in other words you need to achieve proper lighting. Luminance and light distribution may be not proper and become tiring. It is possible to add or subtract light in certain positions.
Consider the possibility of having various types of lighting, eg dimmable floor lamps. You also can replace the pl bulbs to those that have a lower wattage.
In terms of decoration you can accent one wall by painting a bright, warm color or you can have touches of warm colors on the white walls.
They can be either artwork on the walls or landscape & nature wall murals or wall decals.
