INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE

EHI 03, pavilion decorating ideas, bold colors

i29 interior architects designed a pavilion for the dutch magazine Eigen Huis & Interieur during the annual design fair in RAI Amsterdam. With an architectural installation i29 strived to make a spatial experience for the visitors that surprises; an environment that should be discovered step by step.

The ‘house’ has been reduced to the essence; open and closed surfaces, walls and volumes, sight lines. Contrast in color and specular surfaces are playing with the perception of space. Mirrored volumes are hiding display cases which include compressed worlds which refer to living. The contrast between the ‘emptiness' of the pavilion itself and the richly decorated display cases reinforce each other. The powerful simplicity of the pavilion makes it a place for contemplation amidst the abundance of products at the fair.

Vision: i29 interior architects is a creative and versatile design studio. We believe in simplicity and contradiction. The result of being selective is that you have to push each choice to the limit. It also provides a field of tension, and energy to a space. But more importantly it leaves you with a charismatic environment. i29 stands for a work ethic that leads to design solutions dependent neither on expensive materials nor on technical show. We look for choices that answer to multiple questions at the same time. They should tell a conceptual story about the company, the space and it’s users. The firm represents a method in which architecture and interior architecture come together in a model combination. i29 links architectonic components with surfaces that gain maximum impact through the use of a color, material or typography..

The specific ways in which the firm extracts so much from so little has proved itself to the projects which have been awarded until now.  Founding partners Jaspar Jansen and Jeroen Dellensen and their team have received national and international awards for their work, which is published worldwide in magazines and books.

The way we work: in all our projects we try to exceed expectations and get the most out of it   This starts with a process understanding the client needs and trying to get to the core of things. Therefore, we think concept development is one of the most important phases in the design process. A stage with a clear view, where the true  nature of the final result is being set. Here dreams, sharp analysis and practical matters all come together. From the first initiative of a client, to concept development and final design we look back and forward through the complete process. We aim to stay flexible and able to improve ourselves, until the final implementation of each design. The result is always practical yet based on strong ideas articulated in clear concepts.
