Reader’s question
"In my house there is a hallway closet which I would like to replace with a new one. I need your opinion on what kind of wood and what color to choose, whether the doors would be better to be sliding or opening. The doors to the bedrooms are iroko wood. Thank you in advance".
Our recommendation
The color choice for the corridor closet depends on the width and the length of the hallway, the paint color of the walls. Moreover, a criterion for your would be the brightness of the room.
Consequently, regarding all parameters we suggest:
Iroko wood is a relatively dark wood, although you can also find it in light shades.
If the hallway is relatively large, short and bright, you can choose for your closet the same wood as the doors.
Otherwise, you can opt for a natural wood closet in light shade, e.g. beech, or painted in a light shade lacquer combining the paint color of the walls.
In any case we recommend sliding doors for better functionality and circulation in the space.
As alternative options we suggest mirrored closet doors, or glass sandblasting doors with a frame to get a sense of spaciousness in the hallway.
