"I have attached some pictures of my place. I would like some ideas for decorating my open kitchen dining living room. The living room area measures 4m x 5m. Thank you in advance"

Our recommendations
As we can see in the pictures, the living room is rather neutral and with no particular style. However, we will not suggest you an expensive renovation that would include new pieces of furniture and expensive decorative items, but rather suggest some small and cheap do-it-yourself decorating ideas.

1. Add color to the walls
First thing to do is to liven up the walls by adding color. For example, paint the wall behind the fireplace a bright coral color and the other walls a pale ocher color. These colors are warm, earthy and youthful.

2. Hang curtains on the windows
Hang roman blinds on the windows. We suggest choosing plain fabric in a warm shade of red or terracotta.

3. Re-upholster the sofas
We suggest choosing a fabric in a vivid color that contrasts with the warm color of the walls. Choose for example a fabric in a tropical blue color.

4. Change the color of wood furniture
Optionally you can change the varnish of furniture to look modern by painting it white for example.

More decorative touches

• Hang on the walls some framed pictures or paintings
• Buy a rug large enough to accommodate the sofas and the armchair.
• Place a floor lamp to give a low and focused light.
