Reader’s question

“We just moved into a new home and I need help with placing the existing furniture in our new living room. The furniture consists of a sofa 240x90 cm and armchair 80x110 cm, a couple of stools 50x50 cm each, a coffee table 120x80cm and a low rack 240x45 cm. We also have a rectangular 6 seater dining set 180x90 cm. I’ve attached a floor plan sketch of the living room. What would be the ideal furniture sizes and placement when it comes to buy new one?”

Our recommendations
We suggest two living room furniture layouts.
The dining set in both options is placed in the same location: near the kitchen, for quick and convenient meal serving.
We also place the rack in the same position in both options.
In the first occasion the sofa is positioned opposite the windows and the armchair opposite the rack. The couple of stools are placed next to the balcony door.

In the second proposal, the sofa is placed opposite the rack. The armchair is placed next to the balcony door and opposite the couple of stools.

Regarding the future furniture replacement we propose two elegant seater sofas, not too bulky shape at a corner, and a short length rack to create a sense of spaciousness in your living space.
