"We have attached a photo of our kitchen. We would like some help in choosing the countertop material and color of the kitchen island. We had in mind for dark granite (which is the countertop material of the kitchen cabinets) or pine wood or walnut wood. We would also like to have two stools for the island and pendant lights suspended over. What colors to choose?"

Our recommendations

The existing colors in the kitchen allow you to use both options (granite-wood) depending on your preferences. Dark granite on the island and the adjacent counter that runs along the wall visually unify the broad expanse of counter space and provides visual contrast with the perimeter cabinets and flooring creating a rigor look in the kitchen.

Light wood, like pine or dark walnut, contrasting in color and texture with the existing granite creates feelings of warmth and intimacy in the space, which are important since the room function as the gathering place.

The color of the pendant lights and the curtain rod should match the wooden countertop island and the other elements in the space. You can select stainless steel pendant suspension system with white or colored lamps to give pops of color to your space.

Regarding the counter stools you can select either wooden or brushed nickel frame with choice of either a wood veneer or leather seat.
