INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
The new Strasbourg's school of architecture is called Le fabrique, since it was built in a former industrial area in the east side of the city center. Until the construction of the new building the school was accommodated in an old building of 1950, known as Le garage. The architect and engineer of the project is Marc Mimram, known for the design and construction of several bridges.

The seven-storey building is divided into three two storey blocks and a ground floor. The lower volumes cantilever from the ground floor while the upper volume steps back. The shell consists of metal and glass. However for shading reasons the blocks were covered with an aluminum frame. During the day, the building is an opaque grey building, while during the night the facades transform into semi-transparent, iridescent surfaces, illuminated from inside. The steel frame becomes the main element of the facade and the classrooms become part of the cityscape.

With the use of large glass windows the architect connected the interior with the exterior, the school of architecture with the city. Due to the steel frame, the inner spaces are columnless.
This open plan solution, is very advantageous for educational buildings, encouraging the collaboration between students and the exchange of ideas
