Some carpets just aren't made to be stepped on. For some innovative artists and designers, rugs are not only funtional objects with great tradition but canvases for graphic design, artwork, photographic prints, illustrations etc. Nodus is an italian brand, which combines the ancient tradition of weaving and textile art with the contemporary vision of leading designers and architects. The world’s best craftsmen’s traditions mixed with the most innovative ideas, the most daring and avant-guard shapes.
Nodus' carpets are entirely made by hand, by some of the best craftsmen in the world. Even the packaging is handmade. The spirit of the carpets is captured in dynamic and organic forms, assumes irregular profiles or takes inspiration from contemporary and everyday products such as fabrics, tablecloths, books and maps. These unique works of art on which to walk when entering the spaces of daily life and highly valued by families are displayed in the Il Piccolo showroom, in the center on Milan. Nodus' collections have been made all over the world, in Nepal, Portugal, Pakistan, India, Morocco, Turkmenistan, China and Turkey.
- Underworld patterned carpet, designed by Studio Jobs. The illustration on the carpet seams like a surrealistic comic, full of strange creatures like multiheaded-geeses, antenna-eyed frogs, lobsters with wasp wings and wind-up fishes. This wool carpet is hand-knoted in Nepal.
- Jupon, a hand-tufted rug, designed by Sam Baron, the French artistic director of Fabrica. Fabrica is the creative studio of the fashion company Benetton. The word Jupon is French and denotes the garment used under the dress or skirt to create volume. When Sam Baron designed this carpet, had in mind the rippling costumes of can-can dancers. This wool rug is made in India.
- Microcosm , a hand-knotted wool carpet, designed by Matali Crasset. The design, which seems like one of Mondrian's paintings, is an array of green rectangles, cut by black lines. The overal composition is abstract, geometric with irregular profile.
- Sushi 1 , a hand-tufted rug, designed by Estudio Campana. The pattern, which consists of spirals and concentric circles and shapes, coiling one next to the other, seems like drawing inspiration directly from tribal arts.
- Arlecchino , a hand knotted rug on a loom, designed by Donata Parruccini. The rug is made of 100% Tibetan highland wool mixed with new Zealand wool (available also in 100% silk or 50% wool and 50% silk). The design is an array of blue and red triangles, arranged haphazardly on a white background.
- Color flow: a hand-knoted rug with branded pattern, designed by Florian Hauswirth. The carpet resembles the gradient color of blue and sky, and will certainly bring harmony and positive energy in any space. This wool rug is made in Nepal.
- Iosaghini, a hand-knoted rug on a loom, desinged by Massimo Iosa Ghini. The pattern of this minimal rug consists, of a few bold-colored shapes arranged randomly in a neutral background. The simplicity and boldness of colors and shapes probably resonate miro's artworks.
