Mia Hamborg is a Norwegian designer, holding a BA in Furniture design with an emphasis on wood. In her projects, one can easily identify the common principles that underlie almost all of them: function, humor and joy.
The shuffle table resembles the old painted wooden toys and of course the well-known toddler’s stacking toy. Moreover, it is a modular piece of furniture, consisting of several colourful painted wooden modules. The funny part of this table, is that the wooden modules can be arranged and stacked in many ways resulting in different designs and table heights.
The table is inspired by two Nordic traditions: the woodturning tradition and democracy. The intention of the designer was to give the freedom to the user to compose its own table from the turned pieces and with the measure that will fit its own needs and home. Furthermore, a turned wooden leg divided into pieces and splashed with colour is a daring and charming way of renewing the woodturning tradition.
